In 1999, Jeff's peers elected him to the Board of Directors of United Grain Growers. Farmers also elected him to the Board of Directors of Agricore United in 2005.

He has served as President of the Western Barley Growers Association from 2006-2008, and Vice President of the Grain Growers of Canada in 2007-2008.

In 2006 and 2008, Jeff represented several Alberta agricultural groups and the Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance (CAFTA) on trade missions to World Trade Organization negotiations in Geneva, Switzerland. These missions promoted trade liberalization to give better market access and returns to grains, oilseed, pulses, pork and beef producers.

"New markets are continually opening up. If you're going to compete in them, you must be able to market your products based on your individual needs. I am committed to working toward real marketing choice that give farmers in District 2 new opportunities and strong returns."
